This was going to be a post about how the smart person who shot this video properly (horizontally) was the one who got it picked up by professional media outlets, as opposed to the idiots who shot it vertically and got nothing. Just look at the screengrab. It’s clearly letterboxed properly, and clearly illustrates the others holding their cameras in a dumb fashion.
But no. If you take a second and actually watch the video, you realize the Tribune obtained a vertical video, because a proper horizontal one probably did not exist. They chopped off the top or bottom to make it close to the proper aspect ratio, but didn’t go full 16:9, probably because that would have cropped some of the action.
So instead of congratulating the one person who did this right, I’m just going to shake my fist at the world and wonder when you people are going to get your act together. This is not that difficult.
So, great video master (nerd), how are we supposed to hold our phones when we take videos?
